I was looking for something for Photo Friday's "divine" challenge and rediscovered this happy fellow surrounded by an astonishing array of junk in an ad hoc museum not far from La Serena. I don't know who he's supposed to be. A quick google search for "god of happiness" turns up a stunning array of choices: Hotei (Shinto), Bishamon-ten (and war), Fuk (really, Feng Shui), Ebisu (Shinto again), Re'are'a (Tahiti), Tsho-gyalma (Tibet), Fu Shen, etc. Perhaps he's just a laughing Buddha.

It's a really weird statue But you know what I liked most?
The contrast between that asian like culture and ours , it's amazing.
